Cherished Memories: Helping Children & Families Cope with the Death of a Loved One

Children and families who have experienced the death of a loved one or friend are invited to attend this event. This free support event will include story time, crafts, and resources on coping with the death of a loved one. Hosted in partnership with Washington County Free Library. Three days scheduled for 2024: May 17th, June 14th, and July 5th. Event will be held in the Children's Department (Story Room).

Hearts of Hope (Morning Meeting)

Hearts of Hope is an ongoing open grief support group for any adult who is grieving the death of a loved one. This group meets every month routinely on the following days: 1st and 3rd Mondays (daytime, 10:30 AM - 12 Noon), as well as 2nd and 4th Thursdays (evening, 5:30 PM - 7 PM). PLEASE NOTE: Hearts of Hope (Morning Meeting) will not meet January 1st or September 2nd, 2024.

Soaring Doves Teen Program

The Hospice of Washington County bereavement department will be hosting a Soaring Doves Teen Program in partnership with the Hagerstown YMCA. Though experiencing a death can be a life-changing event for anyone, adolescence is a crucial period of development. Our Teen Program is designed to meet the unique needs of those 13-18 years of age who have experienced the death of a loved one.

Family Grief Mindfulness Walks

This program is a NEW opportunity for grieving families to connect with other grieving families. Like walking along a path in the outdoors, grief is a journey taken one step at a time.  HWC welcomes you to join us on May 20th, June 24th, July 29th , and August 19th  at the Hagerstown YMCA to participate in helping you to put one foot in front of the other, literally and figuratively, allowing nature to connect and ground you to the present—as you remember, feel, and grieve.

At the Hospice of Washington County, we are immensely grateful for the time and effort our volunteers put in to help our patients and their families. Volunteers play an important role in quality end-of-life care for patients dealing with a terminal illness. Please check back as dates may change due to unforeseen circumstances, thank you. Friends Fore Hospice Golf Tournament

Hospice of Washington County welcomes you to it's inaugural "Friends Fore Hospice" golf tournament to be held on June 3, 2024 at Beaver Creek Country Club located at 9535 Mapleville Road in Hagerstown.

Service of Remembrance Summer 2024

Hospice of Washington County and Franklin Hospice invite you and your family to join us for a Service of Remembrance honoring the memory of Hospice family members who died between November 1, 2023 and April 30, 2024. The Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hub City Vineyard Church - 17805 Oak Ridge Drive Hagerstown, MD 21740.  Registration/RSVP link is available HERE. Please RSVP by Friday, May 31st, 2024.

Shred Event

Hospice of Washington County's Shred Event of 2024 will be held on Saturday, June 8th, from 9 AM-12 PM at the HWC Main Office. This year is a little different, we are accepting old medications and old electronics (e-waste) on top of paper and documents this year. Come out and shred your papers & donate to our Charity Care Fund! A donation of $10 is suggested per paper box and a donation of $10 is suggested per electrical item.
