Family Grief Sensory Trails
For Children, Teens, and Their Caregivers
Join the Bereavement Team at Hospice of Washington County for a Family Grief Sensory Trail experience. Families are invited to the Star Community Sensory Trail to explore nature together while engaging in mindfulness and sensory activities designed to encourage connection, emotional expression, and healing after the loss of a loved one. A paved and accessible quarter-mile trail in the countryside with playground equipment, seating areas, musical interactions, and a little library.
Throughout the walk, participants will be guided through simple activities that engage the five senses, helping children and caregivers slow down, notice the world around them, and create opportunities for meaningful conversations about grief. Activities may include mindful breathing, listening to nature, observing colors and textures, collecting natural treasures, and reflecting on memories of loved ones.
This family-friendly program provides a supportive and welcoming environment where children and caregivers can connect with one another, build coping skills, and honor their loved one's memory while spending time outdoors.
