Hagerstown, MD, October 22, 2026—Celebrity Waiter Returns for Its Ninth Year to Support Doey’s House

Hospice of Washington County is thrilled to bring back its signature Celebrity Waiter fundraiser for its ninth year this fall. Leading up to the big event, Celebrity Waiter teams will be hard at work hosting unique fundraisers and creative events throughout the community—all in support of Doey’s House.

From themed gift baskets and one-of-a-kind experience raffles to drive-thru donation events, partnerships with local businesses and imaginative fundraising ideas, each team brings its own personality to the competition. Every dollar raised earns points toward the coveted Silver Platter Award, making the journey to the finale just as exciting as the event itself.

2026 Celebrity Waiter VIPs are Andrew Serafini and Tom Newcomer.

“Celebrity Waiter is such a fun event because it showcases the creativity and generosity of our local celebrities,” says Celebrity Waiter Co-Chair Christy Turner. “We’ve seen outrageous costumes, stunning table décor, hilarious serenades, dancing and so much more. Every year brings something completely new!”

This year’s celebration is especially meaningful as it takes place during National Hospice and Palliative Care Month in November—a time dedicated to recognizing the compassionate care that hospice professionals and volunteers provide to patients and families. Celebrity Waiter offers the community a chance to celebrate that mission while helping ensure that local families continue to receive exceptional end-of-life care and support through Doey’s House.

The festivities culminate with the Celebrity Waiter Gala Dinner on Friday, November 6, at Meritus Park, where guests can cheer on their favorite teams while enjoying an unforgettable evening of food, fun, and entertainment.

In addition to the team fundraisers, supporters can participate in an online silent auction featuring a variety of exciting items and experiences.

“Our sponsorship opportunities are another great way for businesses and organizations to get involved,” says Celebrity Waiter Co-Chair Cynthia Perini. “Supporting Celebrity Waiter not only helps Hospice of Washington County and Doey’s House, but also gives businesses the opportunity to be part of one of our community’s most anticipated events.”

As the community comes together during Hospice Month, Celebrity Waiter is a reminder that even a lighthearted evening can have a lasting impact.

As the community comes together during Hospice Month, Celebrity Waiter is a reminder that even a lighthearted evening can have a lasting impact. Every ticket purchased, auction bid placed, sponsorship secured and dollar raised helps ensure that patients and their families receive compassionate care, comfort and dignity when they need it most.

Each waiter or celebrity team will create fundraising efforts inspired by the event theme: 250th Anniversary of the USA or 250th Anniversary of Washington County, Maryland. Our current 2026 Celebrity Waiters are: VIPs Andrew A. Serafini and Tom Newcomer, Middletown Valley Bank, Flying Boxcars, WAYZ – Bob Rocks, The Hershey Group, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Homesale Realty, and Leadership Washington County.
